The Kartz Cystotome offers a wide assortment of surgical advantages. Its principal use is to gain access to the lens nucleus and permit its fragmentation or splitting.
For this purpose, the instrument features a 22 gauge angled tube with a convex curve that conforms with the anatomy of the eye. In addition, the tube ends in a sharp-pointed tip that ensures atraumatic cutting.
Moreover, the Kartz Cystotome features an anterior port over the cutting tip, which helps to irrigate the surgical field. Also, the bottom hub’s internal passage allows a smooth flow of fluids from the silicon bulb to the tube’s port.
